Petitioning for your Fiancé(e) is a benefit available to US Citizens. If you are a U.S. citizen who wants to bring your foreign fiancé(e) to the US in order to get married, you will need to file a petition for her/him/, initiating the first step to her/him/ obtaining a nonimmigrant visa, also known as a K1 or Fiancé(e) visa. However, you and your fiancé(e) are already married, plan to marry outside the United States, or your fiancé(e) is already residing legally in the United States, your he/she is not eligible for a fiancé(e) visa.
In order to obtain a Fiancé(e) visa, your fiancé(e) and you must have met each other/ in person/ and that you intend to marry each other within 90 days of your fiancé(e) entering the U.S with a Fiancée visa. Following the marriage, your spouse then could apply for lawful permanent resident status(a Green Card) in the United States where you and your fiancé(e), must show that your marriage is valid that you have a bona fide intent to establish life together as married couple and the marriage was not for the sole purpose of obtaining an immigration benefit.
